3. Macro’s for common tasks.

• Macro’s for common tasks. Ex. Entering new agreement requires nonlinear steps to accomplish, something out of order creates multiple error messages. Macros could create a top down list of information that is then placed in the correct area.

 

 

• Clarify: the steps requires data entry in multiple tabs in a specific order. this non linear approach makes training cumbersome and subject to many errors. This also increases training burden costs, user displeasure and productivity reduction.
• Story line example. VFD Drive Manufacturer ABB makes Variable Frequency Drives for many electric motor applications. the complete parameter list is hundreds of lines of data. ABB designed user Macros to make drive programming easier. you first selected what you wanted to do and then filled in the data top down. this is then placed in the appropriate fields by the Macro program completing the drive programming without the need to move through dozens of groups and hundreds of parameters.

  This functionality is available in Dynamics GP.  With a repetitive task, you can record keystrokes and then play them back. For instance, if I have a months worth of SM invoices, I can type in the batch number, then record the remaining keystrokes to validate, preview, chance the posting date, post then return the cursor back to the batch number field.  Then my processing is merely just updating the batch number , then a short-cut key to run the macro again.
