Great news!
We have created this capability in Vista with the release of Paging for Grids in Vista in version 6.15 and higher. This allows for much smaller sets of data to be loaded into a Vista form at form load, and provides an experience very similar to web forms today, allowing users to page backwards and forwards through "pages" of results.
FYI - To search for results in this world, we recommend form search to narrow down to the set of results you need, with the grid filter being used only to filter information on the visible page.
Dear Viewpoint Suggestion Box contributor;
We at Viewpoint sincerely thank you for your contribution to Suggestion Box on how we can improve Viewpoint products. While we can’t do everything at once, we rely upon your feedback to help guide the prioritization of our product improvements, and Suggestion Box is a critical tool for us to understand and prioritize our customers’ needs.
Viewpoint reviews Suggestion Box regularly for all of our products and updates statuses, adds comments, and performs various house-keeping (including deleting) as needed to ensure that Suggestion Box is maintained as a productive environment for product enhancements requests.

Hopefully 'Paging' (as it is now called) will soon be searchable across all pages at the same time. :-)
Please note that if you have form load slowness there is a per form setting for restricting the number of records that are returned. You may then use the new form search capability to expand your results beyond what was returned.
In addition to that, we are looking at implementing form paging, as per the comment above from @Nathan Sutherland, which will display and load records in customer-configurable batches of 10, 20, 50, 100 records at a time. This is not yet specifically scheduled, but is very likely to be scheduled soon.
What about opening the form instantly, then APPENDING the rows into the view as they are retrieved? Or perhaps every 10 or 20 rows in batches? That way we could start working/filtering before it has to download the entire list.
If they implement the 'Saved Filter' idea, I think this won't be needed quite as much.
Great idea. This is a major issue for us, especially within Job Master and Pending PO forms
