It would allow the use of pre-calculated fields returned to the template. Example: In Purchase Order Change Order the data being sent includes Total Amount and Tax Amount, but we want to be able to show the amount without tax. Rather than use the Word Template and a formula to get that data it would have been cleaner to provide the data via a user-defined view. There are other scenarios in which providing a pre-created data set would be easier than formulating a join statement using the Create and Send Data Source tool.
