When a PO is closed, the effect on a Work Order should mirror the effect on a Job. Closing a Job PO zeros out any remaining items on the PO in Job Cost. The any remaining committed cost is zeroed out.
When a PO on a Work Order is closed, the PO is still shown in Projected Cost. Support said we have to do a change order to zero out the PO before closing it. It's inefficient to our Purchasing staff to have to perform different actions based on whether it's a WO PO or a JC PO.
We specifically saw this on the SMWorkOrder.rpt and the Crystal Report and datasource for it are too complicated for a DIY solution to suppress Closed POs.

I was just looking this up today to put a suggestion in for it.
Vista support told me,'You'll have to enter a software suggestion if you want the PO Close to make that entry against a SM Work Order like it does for committed cost in JC.'
But is has been on the list since 2017 it looks like.
I hope this gets more votes. This is a big issue for my service team.
I consider this a flaw that needs to be fixed more than a suggestion. Closing a PO brings it value to whatever's been posted to it and should also impact the committed cost everywhere. I can never see a reason where someone would want to close a PO which could potentially change it's total, without changing the Committed Cost entries it produced if closing does in fact change the PO total PLEASE FIX :)
