SM Company Parameters should include a flag to select whether you want to allow posting to closed work orders. This would be comparable to the JC Company Parameters flag to allow posting to closed jobs. We used to get a warning in AP when posting to closed SM work orders and we could not process the batch. This changed in one of the upgrades and that change should have incorporated the check box in SM Company Parameters to allow/disallow posting to closed work orders.
