SM Work Scopes come and go as business needs change. We currently have about 20 SM Work Scopes that were used on Work Orders and can't be deleted. Would be great if they could just be inactivated like most other Vista records.
We are mainly concerned with limiting the number of SM Work Scopes that show up in SM Call Handler lookup.
Here is a response from customer support, which is a viable work around but not ideal.
I have your case regarding deleting SM Work Scopes. You won't be able to delete if they are attached to a work order. And you are correct there is not "inactive" box. Please enter a software suggestion. A possible work around is to add "inactive" to the beginning of the scope description. That way it will show up when using this work scope to prevent use.

Perhaps Vista didn't think companies would keep using their software long enough to go through business changes that require active/inactive sets of data? Puzzling to be sure!
Yes, there are many fields in Vista, that need an Active Status. You can see these all over in the suggestions. The longer you use the software the more you need the Active, Inactive selections. This cannot be a complete over sight on Vista's part. I'm beginning to think Vista does this on purpose, in order to sell their user defined database. It forces people to make their own fields, just to be able to effectively use the core vista software.
