so customers can see, when sent a batch of invoices or even just one invoice, that the payment has been applied and that the invoice has been paid. See Quickbooks for example ;)

Sometimes a customer has a credit card number on file and just wants the invoices paid on their card but still wants to see the invoice and that it was paid, so it needs to say PAID on it when we are emailing it.
No. It is to be able to send an INVOICE that has PAID stamped on it.
