You can correct this manually if you void the check and are sure to check that the number can be used again. If you forget to check this option the number is stuck in limbo forever. Viewpoint used to provide a service where their support/developers would fix this for you, but they don't now according to support. Now we have to remember to look up the next check number every time we process a payment batch. This is highly risky and does not seem like standard accounting software functionality.
