Ability to skip report "Launcher" window for reports when launching via a custom button.

Many times when someone taps a button to open a report, they just want to see the report related to the data they are already viewing, not look at parameters before hitting Preview.

Suggestion

A dropdown within VA Custom Form Buttons called "Report Action" containing

  1. Open Parameters    (same as current flow)
  2. Open Preview      (skips launcher)
  3. Print                     (skips launcher)
  4. Export                  (skips launcher)

Add Open Parameters into the right-click menu for custom buttons which open reports.

Drawbacks

  • Some users might want to tweak parameters before previewing or exporting a report.
    • Workaround: Because this is a PER BUTTON option, either we could create an additional button to open the parameters, or tell the user to right click the button and select "Open Parameters".
  • Users would not know if clicking a button directly opens parameters, the preview, prints, or wants to export things.
    • Workaround: Label our buttons clearly! Instead of using a noun like "Picklist", we would use "View Picklist". It's quite easy to change the text on the button from VA Custom Form Buttons.

Other Ideas for Quickly Opening the Preview

  • Set LONG PRESS on custom buttons to open the preview instead of the launcher. (not a standard part of WinForms)
  • Set MIDDLE CLICK on custom buttons to open the preview instead of the launcher. (seems counter-intuitive)
  • Add Preview as a right-click option on custom buttons (seems awkward).
