I'd like to see new capabilities in the PM Import Estimates Generic Template. There is too much secondary setup on PM Projects and Contracts after importing an estimate. Most, if not all, of the settings that need to be defined after the initial import are items that could be defined in the CSV file. The item that drives my suggestion is the Margin% located on PM Contracts. The import spreadsheet that we use to create the CSV import file already calculates the Margin %. If Vista could properly read the file I would code the macro to grab that percentage and include it in the import. After considering this improvement I found other fields that would be good to define in the import: Project Manager number, Invoice Reviewer Group, PR Local Code. I'm sure there are others too. If the Generic template would allow additional Record Types and Column Names to be defined, all I would have to do is modify my macro to pull this info into the import record. Project setup may not seem like a big deal for most companies, but as a specialty contractor we have MANY projects each year. This year alone my PM team has set up 794 projects. So any shortcuts are a big time saver.
