Currently, if the DNS server goes down for maintenance, local PCs have no internet. This is terrible. Also the DNS server should only resolve network computers, NOT internet addresses. Firewalls and Google DNS should do that. This allows DNS server to get spoofed and attacked. Bad planning

Unfortunately, this is not something that Viewpoint can control, as we are not the suppliers of your Internet and networking infrastructure. The maintenance of this is tied to your in-house or outside IT.
At the end of the day, if your DNS servers are down, you will not be able to browse any site on the internet, or locally; no exceptions.
This suggestion is not applicable to Viewpoint, so we are closing it.

I suggest reading up on how the DNS system currently works. It is frustrating with a DNS server goes down, which is why you can put multiple DNS servers into your computer (or into the DHCP server).
You can even add 8.8.8.8 as the last one, which is actually Google DNS. That way even if your corporate DNS server is under maintenance, you can at least browse facebook, or whatever your needs are. :-)
