For example, when I go to run a report, I uncheck the box to show the cover report. The next time I go to run it, I have to uncheck the box again. Other software that I have used allowed you to save your defaults.

Viewpoint reviews Suggestion Box regularly for all of our products and updates statuses, adds comments, and performs various house-keeping (including deleting) as needed to ensure that Suggestion Box is maintained as a productive environment for product enhancements requests.
You can fix the setting for the cover page to be unchecked in RP Report Parameters, but it would be system-wide, not just at the user level.
Better still, remove the cover report. It was only added a few updated ago.
