This field is very useful for filtering purposes. The field is already present in the INFO tab (visible at the top). Please make it so we can see it in the GRID tab as well.

Have you tried setting the description in grid to 0-Show in Grid Only in the System overrides tab of Field Properties for the Vendor Field? It appears that this might give you what you are looking for.
