Block us from deleting a custom table which is still on a tab on a custom form, which is also a tab on a standard form!

Just ran into this, and it stopped the standard form from loading.

Setup:

  • Standard form "HQ Material Categories"

  • Custom table & form "Custom1"

  • Custom table & form "Custom1Details".

  • Custom1Details was on a TAB in Custom1.

  • Custom1 was on a TAB in "HQ Material Categories".

Process:

  1. Someone deleted the Custom1Details table.

  2. Trying to open HQ Material Categories then showed a fairly useless "Inner Exception" error.

Troubleshooting:

  • Use VA Custom Tabs to find all the tabs in "HQ Material Categories"

  • Use VA Custom Tabs to find the tabs or each of the forms in the tabs listed, and try to open each one.

    • If one fails, then check to see if IT has any tabs with forms....etc.

Solution:

Viewpoint, before allowing deletion of a custom table, please check to see if it is on a custom tab. If it is, warn the user of the tab and form name, then halt the deletion.
