As noted in the above, the item description field for everything on the Federal Information tab in the W2s is 30 characters wide. The description field for the State Box 14 information is only 20 characters wide. This means that any Federal description for items going in Box 14 over 20 characters cannot be matched exactly in the State Box 14 setup. So, the result is that one copy of the W2s is not exactly like the others when describing the same item, and it should be the same.

Aside from the inconsistency in the design/programming of two fields that have the same purpose, the W2s are the last place you want to have any issues or do anything that might cause questions. It shouldn't be that difficult to change the State Box 14 description field width to 30 characters to bring it in line with the Federal side to avoid this difficulty in the future.
