Have a reminder in HR for when changes that need to be made to an employees D/L due to re-hire so it's not missed.

When re-hiring employees that have been laid off or returning. Their are certain things that have a time line to be reinstated but won't take effect immediately depending on their re-hire date. With a reminder you could go into D/L and make sure items that need to taken care of are.
