The biggest reason we are starting to use Field Management is to have the employees review and sign their timecards with their supervisors who must then approve and submit the timecards (meaning that they are both responsible for the accuracy of the submissions).
If the office staff member who is processing the imported FM timecards can make a change in the Vista PR batch, and that change writes back to the FM timecard WITHOUT THE EMPLOYEE RESIGNING THE CHANGES OR THE SUPERVISOR REAPPROVING THAT CHANGE, then what is the point of having them sign anything in the first place?
With no audit trail of the fact that the office staff made the change, there is no guarantee that the supposedly 'signed' timecard is what the employee actually signed or what the supervisor approved, so we have absolutely no legal leg to stand on.
Not only should there be an audit trail of any changes to an already submitted and approved timecard (that was not unsubmitted and resubmitted), but there should also be an Administration setting that optionally prevents any changes to a submitted/approved timecard altogether from the Vista side.
NOTE: This is even *worse* than having the employees submit paper timecards. At least if changes are made on the piece of paper, you can see that something was altered. In FM, we don't even have that.

This is a needed feature. Kate's explanations above show that this is difficult to explain to anyone who may ask for audit type details on timecard changes considering several other timecard systems offer this off the shelf.
