The Box 20 Locality name on W-2s for Ohio is very confusing. For instance, the City of New Philadelphia is shown as NPCITY where Mansfield is shown as MANSF. The cites that go through RITA are shown as "RO" then the RITA number then "C" . An example might be RO790C. The city of Columbus is represented as CO001C. This confusion also applies to Local School District tax entities. Our biggest problem with this is that Employees, CPAs, Tax preparation companies, etc have no idea what these Locality names represent and end up calling our company to find out what the city/school district should be. Because the Locality name that is placed on the W-2 is not available anywhere in Vista for us to look up, we must refer to the PR Employee Accumulations report to figure out what city/school district that the Locality name is referring too. We would like to see something done with this so that the tax preparer and employee can easily understand what Locality the W-2 is referring too.
