I doubt we are the only company that has found it necessary, in reporting, to decode (Parse) the GL line-level description, which is set up in the Company Parameters of several modules.
The delimiter can not be changed during setup and is implemented as a forward slash "/." This "encoded" description becomes useless when a date or other information is inevitably entered in an upstream module with a forward slash (Such as a date 12/23 or 12/31/23).
Alternatively, "Description Part Fields" (VISTA-1-2199) could be used and filed with data based on the Source and the Company Parameters so that information could be queried directly. I am aware that it is possible to join back to some of this information using the SrcTable & SrcKeyID that is included; however, this data is not included for all sources and is cumbersome and often creates locking and blocking on the transaction tables.
