I can tell you from my days in support that people tend to get a lot of junk laying around in the work edit from all the various imports (IM Work Edit form).
Every now and then a customer will foul up their excel spreadsheet... like if they fill down, so that a .csv is generated with 64,000 rows (even if they're almost all blank). The import will try to bring them in and create MILLIONS of bad records in IMWE which bogs things down terribly.
If you try to delete the work edit, it will clear the records one at a time and that will hang too.
Support winds up going in and truncating bIMWE through SSMS -- which is less than ideal.
Also, people just do a lot of imports and create dozens of old work edits (keyed by ImportId) which just take a long time to clean out one at a time so they don't, and things just pile up.
Note though, that there are a few tables related to IMWE (IMWENotes, etc) that should be cleared out at the same time.
