Would be very helpful to be able to control which users have the ability to access the database via 3rd party tools (e.g. Excel, Access, SSMS). Currently it seems that any user with access to the system can access data via a 3rd party tool. For example, they can connect via ODBC connection in Excel and import tables. Application role security allows you to limit every user from changing data outside the software, but there does not appear to be any way to limit access altogether for specific users. Some user would need access (DB Admins, Report Designers, etc.) but not every user.

Dear Viewpoint Suggestion Box contributor;
We at Viewpoint sincerely thank you for your contribution to Suggestion Box on how we can improve Viewpoint products. While we can’t do everything at once, we rely upon your feedback to help guide the prioritization of our product improvements, and Suggestion Box is a critical tool for us to understand and prioritize our customers’ needs.
Viewpoint reviews Suggestion Box regularly for all of our products and updates statuses, adds comments, and performs various house-keeping (including deleting) as needed to ensure that Suggestion Box is maintained as a productive environment for product enhancements requests.
This seems more like a thing that you would need to fix in SQL, not Vista.
