Ability to add a custom combo box to 'Related Forms' AFTER it's been initially created.

You add a custom combo box into JC Job Master, and leave all the checkboxes OFF in 'Select Related Forms'.

4 months later the CEO says they'd love to see the same field in PM Projects.

What do you do?

  1. Babble incoherently about Viewpoint's inability to modify custom fields.
  2. Politely tell the CEO that this will take three days, then
    • Create a NEW field (combo box) on both forms,
    • copy the data,
    • modify all procedures, functions, views, SSRS reports, and Crystal reports which reference the old field,
    • test everything
    • delete the old field
    • modify the forms so the new field sits where the old field sat
    • run code so that the column order on everyone's grids is the same as it was before
    • test everything again
  3. Sigh, and tell them it can't be done.

Pick one.

 

Who would this benefit? EVERYONE who goes back to modify a custom field because they forgot to include it on a related form nobody used at the time.

Who would this hurt? ....... can't think of anyone who would be hurt by this.

Why are the "Related Forms" checkboxes disabled when modifying a combo box? ..... I don't know.
