Add in Vista Document Management an index field for Document Date (not attached or scanned date)

When audits occur or request are made for documents the request refers to the document date, not the attached or scanned date (which could be days or weeks different).  Companies ask for the latest drug test date on a list of employees and we have to open every document to see what the original date was because it will be different than the attached date.  What took seconds in VCM is taking days for 3500 employees.

  In theory, you could use a DM Index Cross Reference to do that. You'd need a field on the form where you're storing the Document Date, then use the cross reference to direct it to some unused index or one of the Custom 1-5 indexes.

  Vista is asking us to use DM when we have been very happy using VCM.  We have used a first class system and you are asking us to regress in our ability to be paperless and data at our finger tips.  Today with DM we have to open and read every document instead of relying on the indexed Document Date field to gather the needed documents.

  2. A column should be added to DM that will show the date of the document. The scanned/entered into DM date on a document is insignificant for us. Merged
