Changing the Work Order input field in SM Work order module to alpha numeric

I would like to implement the capability to use Alpha numeric entry for our work order numbers as opposed to strictly Numeric. Some clients provide billing numbers which contain alpha numeric sequence and would like to reflect our system the same.
