It would be extremely useful to have tips and tricks for those of us in IT departments that access database data. There are things that we don't know about tables, views, stored procedures and triggers that would be helpful when creating reports and imports/exports.

Aya, I completely agree that we should have someplace to go for more technical documentation regarding Vista. I'm not sure if Viewpoint has any direction on your request, so maybe we can fill in a few examples of the types of things we're looking for:
Tip 1 - Use the database diagram documents to visualize table relationships.
Tip 2 - Inside Vista, use F3 on any field to see its table and column name.
Tip 3 - Triggers are primarily used for auditing (HQMA)
Tip 4 - For the most part, views in the Vista database are used as a way to enforce security over the underlying tables.
Tip 5 - Vista's application log (vDDAL) stores system events such as login / logout / failure messages / etc. This can be very useful to see the actual error message a user received, even if they didn't snippet the error.
