The "new" DOCX and XLSX formats have been around for 17 years now! The Export process needs to support these formats for the best compatibility with the newest versions of Word and Excel, and especially Office 365. For users using only the browser based versions of Word or Excel, the older formats are not compatible and will constantly have to be converted.
I'm trying to ween my users off of using these older formats but it is hard when Vista Exports are still limited to them.
Time to get on the bandwagon....

The last export option is ".xlsx". I don't see ".docx" though.
Personally, I tend to use Excel Power Query rather than exporting to Excel anyway. This bypasses this problem and is a much more efficient way of getting Vista report data into Excel when needed.
