In the Accounts Payable module for AP Transaction or AP Unapproved Invoice Entry is a helpful field that we can describe the invoice that is entered. Currently there are roughly 30 character spaces in this field. This would be easy to describe project names in the header of the AP transaction entry. Would it be possible to increase the character length to a higher count over 30? Potentially to 100.
As time passes, some construction companies do additional work on older projects that have closed. Thus a new project is set up and would warrant an elongated project name to differentiate between the old and new project. This implements our AP Transaction Entry and AP Unapproved Invoice Entry's description field by attempting to shorten the project name into name abbreviations or acronyms. By raising the alphanumeric count, this would help us to keep better record keeping in all reports and check payments.
Would this be a possibility? Or would there be an additional option that we could implement into our process in Vista?
