Move Custom Fields - SNAP to GRID

It is very difficult to align custome fields on a form. Support: you should try it some time and you will quickly understand how frustrating is is and how much time is wasted trying to align the fields. If you have 50 fields on a form it will take you hours and hours and it will never look right.

Has anyone tried updating dbo.vDDFIc.ControlPosition? It seems as if this is where the location of fields are stored. If so:

    1. Place the fields roughly where you want them

    2. copy their ControlPositions into VS code (or excel, or any other text editor)

    3. round the values as needed

    4. execute an update on vDDFIc with those new values (hint use muliple cursers in VSCode, or a concatination formula in excel to out put each rows VALUES "(Form,Seq,ControlPosition),")

    5. verify field positions / give it a once over

Rejected? Come on Viewpoint, we can do much better than this.

How about allowing movement of the fields based on the arrow keys instead of the mouse? Each tap of the arrow key equates to a very specific amount of movement and we can control it with precision to line things up. Form fields that are not aligned looks un-professional and we hate that!

Showing the RED LINES of the closest (or all) controls on a form would help, especially if the line/edge we were moving would snap to an existing line if it was within 3 or 4 pix.

Will not implement? Fine, then give us some other way to line them up.

Since this just got rejected, instead of snap to grid, how about when moving a form, adjacent fields have their red lines so you can easily line up the two red lines.

The way WPF (Visual Studio) does it is nice

Created a for with 180 fields and it took most of 1 days to align it all...and even then, took some tweaking. This is a good upgrade idea.

If snap to grid doesn't work it may be easier to allow multiple fields to be selected, then right-click Align left, right etc like you do in Crystal Reports.

This is a great idea.  We'll need to investigate what's needed and then schedule it.  It may be a while to get in, but we will start research on it soon.

It takes me forever to get them aligned and feel your pain.  I also created a form with 50+ fields and it took forever.
