The software accurately calculates the Pension liability in the prevailing wage calculation using the Total Prevailing Wage, Base Wage, Add On Benefits and Liability values entered in the Craft Class Template. This calculation works using the Shift 1 value in the Pay Rates tab but does not work for other shifts. As a shift increases in pay rate there should be an ability to enter a corresponding Prevailing Wage Total for that shift. The system currently only has one entry for a Prevailing Wage Total which we enter the value for shift 1. If shift 2 is being paid, the system calculates the Pension component using the higher shift 2 base wage and the shift 1 Prevailing Wage Total resulting in an under payment to the Pension liability. Support states to accurately calculate the Pension liability for Prevailing Wage when paying shift 2 we must setup a new Craft/Class for shift 2 to be able to enter a higher Prevailing Wage total value. This logic seems to defeat the purpose for being able to enter more than one shift rate in the pay rates. Rather than having to setup multiple Classes just to be able to enter a calculate the correct Pension amount for a shift 2 pay rate, the software could be modified to calculate the value of the Prevailing Wage Total for shift 2 by adding the difference between the shift 1 and 2 pay rates to the shift 1 Prevailing Wage Total. Basically, there needs to be a Prevailing Wage Total field for each Base Wage. There is more work involved to create new data entry fields so that each shift would have a base Wage and a corresponding Prevailing Wage Total field. If there is only going to be 1 Prevailing Wage Total value then there needs to be a way to increase that value when a higher Base Wage is being paid.

Any company that is using more than 1 shift pay rate would benefit from this change.  It does not seem right to generate additional Class entries in the Craft/Class Template just to handle multiple shifts.  No one informed us during our system setup that we needed multiple Craft Class entries to handle multiple shifts for the prevailing wage calculation.  We now have a years worth of corrections to make for our shift 2 entries and technically we have been out of compliance due to this issue. I wonder if there are other customers who are unaware of this situation when using multiple shifts. I have attached a spreadsheet to help clarify the change request.
