Allow for capped limits on Sales Tax Merged

Customer has a problem with this. It is a concern because in PO entry, there is no way to manually fix it other than to enter 2 separate lines, one for the first 5k and one for the rest. It would have to be overridden in AP. This is a problem. They really don’t want their AP people changing tax codes or amounts. They have lots of PO’s that will be over $5000 on materials. Do you have any idea when/if this will be fixed?

Please let me know so I can update the customer.

GG - This has broad impact - affecting HQ tax setup, POs, AP, SL, MS, etc. - primarily accounting - so I've changed the owner to myself and raised priority

This is essential when biiling customers. There is usually a cap on taxes related to other than state sales taxes. City , county and municipalities usually have a cap.

The Sales tax issue for PO's over $5,000 is one element that causes extra work (two lines, etc.) This is also an issue in the Material Sales invoicing process. Our company has to edit each customer invoice over $5,000 manually, calculate how much extra has been charged for the County Tax that cuts off at $5,000 (different rates for different Counties - 0%, .5%, 1%, 1.5% etc), and insert a negative amount to reduce the county tax. There is also a rule that states if a PO is provided that list the dates and amounts for the large PO then the $5,000 rule only applies for the first $5,000 for the entire job. This holds true for PO/AP as well, which treats different purchases differently. We have been waiting for over 5 years for this fix. We do over 300 tickets per day and have to manipulate more and more invoices.

Tennessee has a single item taxable limit of $3,200.  All you have to do is add a field so we can enter the taxable limit amount in each tax code and have the PO look for this value when calculating sales tax.  Bam!  Taxable limits are so common this is basic to sales tax.
