If you setup a default value under System Overrides for any field in VP, this default gets ignored if VP creates the record on that form versus a user manually entering. For example, I setup a default value for a field on the Distribution tab of the RFI, Submittal 6.5. When a user enters the TO contact on the RFI, the Architect on the Submittal 6.5, VP adds this contact into the Distribution tab automatically but ignores any defaults entered from System Overrides. I also setup a default date on a Subcontract Change Order (current date +7 eg) and when the SubCO gets created from the PCO Approval (checking the box to create the Subcontract CO) this default system override gets ignored and it's created without a default.
I'm not sure why these System Overrides are allowed if they are not always enforced. I'd consider this a bug.
