We used to be able to put an employee's "sort" name (in our case their last name) in the "employee" field and the system would auto-fill the employee # when you tabbed out. It even worked if you put only part of the sort name. In situations where multiple employees had the same sort name (or beginning letters) it would take the first available.
Now we get an error message when using this approach, and our only options are to put in an employee # or do an F4 lookup. Because our time sheets are based on employee names rather than numbers, having to continuously do an F4 lookup slows the entry process down considerably.

Our system still allows us to put in a name and does the auto-lookup like you described. I think you need to log a support case, not a suggenstion. Good luck!
