Sometimes mistakes are made by dispatchers, Customers added, Work Orders generated, and even billed, only to be discovered that the customer already exists!
In our old software there was a great tool called "Merge Customers" which would do exactly that, merging all the two customer's records into one record, allowing the users to keep a clean data set and reducing future errors.
Viewpoint, this is needed.

Dear Viewpoint Suggestion Box contributor;
We at Viewpoint sincerely thank you for your contribution to Suggestion Box on how we can improve Viewpoint products. While we can’t do everything at once, we rely upon your feedback to help guide the prioritization of our product improvements, and Suggestion Box is a critical tool for us to understand and prioritize our customers’ needs.
Viewpoint reviews Suggestion Box regularly for all of our products and updates statuses, adds comments, and performs various house-keeping (including deleting) as needed to ensure that Suggestion Box is maintained as a productive environment for product enhancements requests.

Thanks for the idea Kevin. The issue here is there is no guaranteed unique identifier. The address might be off by a character or two, the phone, cell, email, or contact name might change...etc.
Our dispatchers are getting better about looking for "fuzzy matches", but still miss things once in a while.
Nathan,
I agree that the merge would help clean up messy data from before. As far a keeping clean data moving forward, have you considered a validation on the customer setup that would look for the same name, same address, or same phone # or something like that to warn the user that a customer already exists.
