We use the HQ Material when adding items to the purchase order entry form.
Currently VISTA is set to not allow a default of 'LS' in HQ Materials. We use the unit of measure of LS for Freight. We can override the UM in the PO but the system will not allow us to set up LS as the default for freight.
Our AP hates the unit of measure EA for freight because it is added entry. LS would be easier for them.
If the default is for something else we often forget to manually change the UM each time. Having it default correctly would help our process flow.

Viewpoint disabled the use of LS in a trigger on the table for Issue 28325 which I can't find the history on. As a work around, you could create a L.S. unit of measure and use that. There could be some unsupported behavior by doing this. You could test it out and see if it works for your needs. You could also call support and see what issues the LS was causing (they can likely pull the history on that issue) and if it applies to your situation.
