Add a setting in Payroll Company Parameters to turn off updating the PR Employee Crew/Job from Timecard Entry

Our employees rarely change crews, and when they do, HR want's to make the change. Having the crew change from PR Timecard Entry causes confusion for us.

Natallia, This is NOT a Keystyle issue. It is a Vista PR Employees issue. We simply want the OPTION to turn the auto update trigger OFF. It really isn't that complicated..... The data is automatically captured in the job/crew on PREH and inserted into the current timecard line unless changed. All we are asking for is the OPTION to turn it off. If you cna move this forward, thank you. If you can't, please stop arguing with us to convince us we don't know how the system works.

    Have a nice day.

Ok, so sounds like that the enhancement needs to be on the Keystyle side when coping time from one day/ week to another. Within Vista, do you use job/ crew data captured in Current section of PR Employees form in any way?

They use Keystyle - Field Managment FM Grid Time. They do use copy/clone if they have all of the same employees as day before, which is majority of the time. We have asked several times, but there has been no solution in the past.

Any other questions, please let me know.

    Sarah,

Which from do you use to enter time in in Vista? Are your users utilize any copy/ cloning features?

    Natallia,

We have this same trouble. It pulls random crews, not who entered the timecard. I don't know if it pulls from the last superintendent who worked on the job or what, but it doesnt pull the crew that they were on or who entered it. Our superintendents enter each person's time, not by an entire crew, so maybe that is the difference?

    Ken,

Are you talking about cloning of timecards in the portal? Assignment to PR departments does drive GL posting, but crew and job fields is PR Employees form serve just as a default for timecard entry. Those fields get auto updated by Vista every time a new timecard gets entered as long as the Last Timecard Post Date in the Current section of PR Employees form (lower left of the Info tab) is less then the date used in timecard entry. This can serve as a convenient tool too see last timecard date, last job and last crew for the employee, but these fields have no GL implications and can be changed in Vista at the time of timecard entry as needed. PR department assignments and job/ crew defaults are not systematically tied to each other in Vista, both serve as defaults for timecard entry but can be overridden when time is entered. When time is copied in Vista from a previously posted timecard, the data comes from the timecard history, not form PR Employees, so it should not get in the way for you.

When we assign someone to a job and crew in Payroll, that is tied to a department. If they have transferred to a different department and they clone their past timecard, the job can get changed back and the incorrect department charged for the wages. This results in extra work to make adjusting entries to charge the correct department. This change had been highly requested by our Payroll and HR departments.

Ken, many users actually like the ability to see the last job worked and crew in PR Employees form, can you please explain why you would like the ability to turn those updates off?

It would be nice when cloning a timecard if it didn't show several pay periods into the future. Why would I want to clone a timecard that doesn't even exist yet? Also, when adding a new row it would be helpful if the new row was added to the bottom of the timecard instead of the top.
