Currently, the work completed lines calculate the taxable amount at time of posting costs. However, the tax amount is based on when it is billed. If you have a rate change from the time of costs posting to time of billing your tax amounts will be incorrect.

Hi Gary,
Is there any update on this? This is a big issue.
Tax changes can happen quarterly, but usually just once per year. We are spread all over the state so we have roughly 30-40 jurisdictions where tax can potentially change. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Agree - tax charged to the customer should be determined as part of the billing process. We will take a look on how best to implement a change.
I help prioritize, can you tell us how frequently you see tax rate changes that create the problem?
This is a huge issue for us. The method Vista is using calculating tax on Work Orders is wrong. Tax needs to be calculated based on the rate of the buyers jurisdiction at the time of Invoice, not as material or labor are issued to the Work Order. The current method of calculating tax is not compliant with tax laws.
