When the Work Office state box is used on the employee level, state reciprocity will be based on the Work Office state that is filled in this box.

While reviewing this with Business Information Group and Viewpoint themselves, this apparently is working as intended

However, State Reciprocity should be based on the employees Resident state. I think it would be useful for Viewpoint customers that have offices in multiple states if state reciprocity would have an option to still be based on Resident state when the Work Office state is filled in on the employee level

Example 1:

When no Employee Work Office is used

Employee that lives in NJ and works on a Job in PA will be taxed for their resident state of NJ (which is correct)

Example 2:

When Employee Work Office is used

Employee that is based in the office state of MD (and this is on their individual employee setup), lives in NJ, and works on a Job in PA. They wind up being taxed for the state of MD because MD also reciprocates with PA (which is incorrect) It should be based on their resident state still even though they have a work office state of MD in their employee setup.

To me, this feature as is doesn't seem very helpful.

The most helpful situation from my point of view would be.

• When on a PR Dept - tax should be based on Work office state and then compared to residential state for reciprocity

• When on a Job - tax should be based on Job PR Tax state and compare to Residential state for reciprocity (and ignore Work Office state in Employee setup in this scenario)
