All the fields in Viewpoint which are by default constrained to values available via an F4 lookup should AUTO-FILL if the user has typed in enough values to make a unique entry.
For instance, say I have phases named:
GETB-091, GETBB-09.
Now in any form that requires a phase input, it would be great if I could type in GETB-, and then hit TAB. Vista would then go lookup GETB- in the first available F4 Lookup for that field, and if only one value was returned, drop it into the field (GETB-091), then do the regular field validation. If nothing matched, it would go straight to field validation which would throw an error.
If there were MULTIPLE entries that matched, then SHOW the F4 lookup (emulate an F4 keypress event) so the user can choose.
Vista is partially there by filtering the F4 lookup by what has already been typed. Setting the field to fill in when only one value is available which matches typed text would be the next logical step and save a lot of F4-ENTER keypresses.
ANY field which has an F4 lookup AND a validation of any kind, should do this. Just think of the time savings!
