We need the PR to allow for shits that begin on one date, & end on the next. (Not a per day entry) There has to be a means to properly pay an employee, who works at night, where his shift ends the next day. If an employee starts at 8pm on 5/1, and his shift ends @ 7am 5/2, we need a means to have his 11 hour shift referenced stand alone. Otherwise in this scenario, he won't receive any O.T. pay. He'll be paid 4 hours (actually 3 hrs 59 mins; because the system doesn't recognize 12am) on 5/1, & paid 7 hours (actually 6 hrs 59 mins; 12am not recognized) on 5/2. Employee not only loses his OT pay; he's shorted 2 minutes.

Agreed with to OP. Further, this shortcoming at least doubles the work for night shift entry (at least two lines for each shift - and more if the shift is on multiple jobs or phases making each time card much more lengthy and complex. And, at the approval and reporting staged, it makes review of shift totals more difficult.
