We have customers who will sometimes attached multi-hundred megabyte attachments which causes the database to bloat in size as well as poor performance related to rendering of thumbnails. Requesting a way to limit the size of attachments that can be added.
Added a case today where a customer had been adding HR videos to Vista and one in particular was a 2GB MP4 file which crashed the remote service due to System.OutOfMemoryException error. Customer would like a way to restrict attachments based on filetype/extension as well as set a maximum size.

With the new attachment lister eliminating the need to generate thumbnails, does this request still have as high a priority? Of course, it would help to limit the size of the database, but the thumbnail aspect is no longer there as of 6.14.
This has become a huge issue for us, with multiple methods of scanning in files its almost impossible to control the original file size. A type of system alert would have saved us thousands in lost productivity. Please include this in your next release.
Yes please, this issue caused us to crash three times today.
Or something I believe might be better than limiting file size, is by after a certain file size, try a number of compression algorithms. So if it's a PDF for example, it would try optimize file size. It would also be nice to run something across the entire database or schedule it to try compress all files.
